BOLD ORANGE Valentine's Day Lingerie 2014
I thought I'd offer up some Valentine's Day alternatives to the traditional red negligee. If you are like me and crave color, but would like to see lingerie in other colors than pastel green, blues and pinks, then you'll enjoy this post. Some call it orange, some tangerine and some peach even. I call it cool. I've added a non-lingerie accessory, in the same color theme, here and there, that was being offered by a team member, or just something I found and loved that I thought would look great from other shops, as well. I haven't stayed with the lingerie as strictly bed wear, but am showing it as day wear, too. If you hadn't thought about orange lingerie, I think you'll be surprised at how many choices there are out there and just how much fun it truly is.
Let's start with this simple little chiffon chemise...I love this piece because of the huge sweep and Grecian styling. The sexy, totally open sides that close with a satin ribbon, accommodate an ample bosom and is perfect for an hour glass figure. It is just screams to be worn during the day or out at night.

These panties go great with the Pucci inspired Vasserette above or you can use them for the bottom half of a baby doll gown and pair them with the slippers below. And for those of you who get a little queasy at the thought of vintage panties, never fear. These are dead stock and have never been worn.

Perhaps with one of these three under it!
The elegant caftan below, doesn't need a thing. It's vibrant pattern against a bright white is eye catching, yet elegant. A wonderful lounger, bathing suit cover-up or even summer dress. I love the way the waist cinches on the inside and the back drapes flat like a cape.

If you are looking for a little drama (translate = marabou feathers) then this peachy orange double chiffon dressing gown is just the ticket. Sleeveless with marabou feathers and an amazing sweep, it oozes drama. If it's warm enough to wear it, you probably don't need it, but let's just say this robe is meant to for fun. Elegant, dramatic, sexy, see-through fun, in a way that only Janelle of California knows how to inspire.

Vintage Fluorescent Tangerine Nightgown Gaymode 1960 Grecian Style Floor Length Large
The two pieces below, are made by different manufacturers; Gaymode and Vanity Fair, and in different decades. I think they work wonderfully as a set. Who wouldn't love to see this kind of color sitting across from them at the kitchen table? It makes me happy just thinking about it.
Remember the versatile camisole and our post (Vintage Lingerie's Best Kept Secret: The Versatile Camisole) describing it's myriad of uses? Here's a lovely orange one that works easily as a summer top. I would pair these cool slippers with it and wear them out and about.

And then there were these matching sets with amazing patterns offered by Vanity Fair in the 60's. The name of the pattern, "Fuji Drama", is almost as fun as the pattern, itself.
(...gotta love these matching scuffs...)

I am in love with this Vanity Fair bra from the 60's. It HAS to be worn as a cropped top. Here, I've paired it with a pair of vintage suede leather shorts. I think it's perfect.
Another stand alone. One of those crazy hybrids the "hostess gown". Some day I'll do a post on that concept alone. Is it a dress? Is it lingerie? Who cares! This one has the sexiest key hole back, ever!
This looks more like a dress and jacket set, than a 70's peignoir set. It's so much campy fun. No fluorescent hunting color pun intended!
I found a belt that would make this 60's nightgown a mod mini dress. Better find some awesome, vintage panties for underneath.
Sometimes, I just like to mix it up a little. Perhaps you've noticed this, already. I like the coordinating contrast of these to pieces together, that make a terrific day wear ensemble.
These three create a bohemian artsy look for your next elegant affair.
If we are looking for some fun and useable vintage lingerie to sleep in, here's a good example from Vanity Fair, who consistently made and designed quality lingerie for decades. Sadly, this isn't true today. All the more reason to search out the vintage pieces. This set comes with the matching robe, so if you are feeling chilly or having company, you still look good at the breakfast table.
Can't afford the real designer? How about a great Pucci knock-off.
Simply 60's chiffon perfection. A double nylon orange crush peignoir set.
Some might say I've saved the best for last. I'd have to agree. Once again, it's a Vanity Fair. As far as designs go, you'd have a good argument in favor of the 1960's as being their banner decade. This color block peignoir robe is just as hip now, as it was then.
Now, wasn't that fun?
Until next time,
XO
Kathy
What a great post Kathy! It makes me think of spring. I love the color and the selections you have chosen. The pairing is cool too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Valerie. I'm so happy you like the pairings! I had a lot of fun doing them. I didn't always stay within the same decades...sometimes it's fun to think outside of the box. I guess I'm just that kinda gal! And YES spring will be here soon... Thanks, for the comment, too. You're the best. ( :
