Mother's Day 2017 Vintage Breakfast in Bed

About this time of year I start putting together charming and adorable vintage Mother's Day Breakfasts in my mind.  I start with an adorable or super cool vintage bed jacket and then either team it up with other vintage breakfast in bed items that are from that era or I freestyle it and just go with what I thinks works well together.  And that pretty much sums up my approach to vintage in general, playing with a time warp can be super fun, but ultimately most of us will mix it into our contemporary stash creating our own unique expression of self.   I have chosen these items keeping a partner and possibly young children in mind.  Per usual, if you click on the title it will bring you to a listing that gives more detailed information. A 1950's Pink Mother's Day Breakfast in Bed

Here I have chosen a few different options in bed jackets.  There are two criteria.  1.)  They must be pink and 2.) you must be able to wear them in bed without sitting on them.  Number 2 is critical in this circumstance.  Mom has to be free to twist and move freely while she settles in with her breakfast tray.  No scooching or fanny lifting allowing.  We are talking hot liquids here.

I especially like this piece because of its attached belted waist line and the covered buttons are a very nice detail.  Of course all things satin are wonderful and because it is quilted with a notched collar this could easily be integrated into day wear as a little jacket.  So cute!  Here's another one below:

As stated, this poncho esque  knitted bed jacket fits about a 38" bust, but the under arm is ambiguous and in my book that means larger busts apply here!  If you fit the bill, make sure to ask for additional measurements to be sure.  I love the pointed pixie like bottom, pom-poms and soft wool.  This is so incredibly adorable and like the one before makes the perfect little spring sweater.  One tiny repair that looks well done is the proof that you are wearing vintage!  Wear it proudly!

1950's Breakfast Trays

Here's what you will be using to present you gorgeous breakfast and what not.  Make sure you have the room or are willing to make 2 trips.  Some breakfast trays have legs and some do not.  Some have finger holes and some have lips.  Keep this in mind when thinking about what you will actually serve.  Tole painted black trays are classic 1950's.  Here is a great one that is very affordable.

1950's Pink Coffee Pots
